
Bulgaria won the 1st European Championship in mini-football for amateur players held in
Bydgoszcz!
The tournament was organized in town Bydgoszcz in Poland by World MiniFootball Association – WMA with support of Polish MiniFootball Association and auspices of Polish Ministry of Sport.
Town Bydgoszcz was chosen as host for the EuroFans 2012 because of its geographical location towards the UEFA EURO 2012 host cities in Poland (Warsaw, Gdansk and Poznan), and because of its natural and architectural attractiveness. Bydgoszcz is known as "Venice of Poland".
First matches of EuroFans 2012 started in December 2011 with first qualifying games on local levels of participating countries. Each participating country organized pre-final qualifications for the best teams of each country. The winners of each country was decided by the end of May 2012 and got the confirmation from WMA for the participation on the finals in Bydgoszcz.
Final tournament was held on the artificial grass field installed on Central Square in Bydgoszcz and gathered 10 amateur mini-football teams from 9 countries. The countries that participated on the tournament finals in Bydgoszcz are:
1. Poland – host country
2. Bulgaria – tournament winners
3. Greece (Patras) – tournament finalists
4. Greece (Thessaloniki)
5. Croatia
6. Serbia
7. Ireland
8. Bosnia & Herzegovina
9. Lithuania
10. FYR Macedonia
Tournament started with group stage on 12 June and lasted until the finals on 15 June. The teams were divided in 2 groups:
Group 1:
Bulgaria, Greece-Patras, Croatia, Ireland, FYR Macedonia
Group 2:
Serbia, Greece-Thessaloniki, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Poland, Lithuania
Group stage games where held on 12 and 13 June, quarter-finals on 13 June, semi-finals on 14 June and final game between Bulgaria and Greece-Patras on 15 June.
